Weir Mill Regeneration

Weir Mill, a Grade II–listed former cotton mill dating back to the late 1700s, required sensitive redevelopment. The challenge was to modernise the historic structures for residential and mixed-use purposes while preserving original architectural features and supporting Stockport’s wider regeneration ambitions.

A&B Engineering supported the heritage-led regeneration by delivering modern building services solutions suited to residential living. Services were carefully integrated within existing mill structures and new-build elements, ensuring contemporary performance standards while retaining original brickwork, beams, cast-iron features, and industrial character.

The Weir Mill redevelopment now provides 253 high-quality homes alongside commercial, retail, and social spaces. The scheme successfully preserves Stockport’s industrial heritage, contributes to the Town Centre West masterplan, and creates a vibrant new riverside community.
